Group Employment Supports

The Group Employment Supports is to provide a safe and secure environment for the clients to work on learning job skills so that they may one day obtain community employment.

 Employment Supports

“Employment Support” is based on the principle that individuals with severe disabilities have the right to be employed by community businesses.

According to Ohio Home and Community Based Services (HCBS), “Group Employment Supports,” are provided in a community setting for groups of workers with disabilities who have paid employment and work experiences. The outcome of group employment supports is experience 
to further career development with the outcome of individual competitive, integrated employment.

Task the clients perform              

  • Cleaning bricky (Knick knacks)
  • Pricing bricky
  • Tagging purses, scarves, belts, and hats
  • Cleaning toys
  • Gathering hangers
  • Picking clothing off the floor in the store area
  • Cleaning the lunch room
  • Gathering trash.

Classes on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday

Some of the topics are:

  • Hygiene
  • Attendance and punctuality
  • Safety
  • How to resolve disagreements at work
  • Job keeping skills
  • Practice Interviewing
  • Appropriate relationships at work a performance objectives.

Clients move on to work out in the community at:

  • YMCA- janitorial and daycare
  • Miami Valley Gaming- dishwashing
  • Middletown Public Schools- janitorial
  • Frisch’s- dishwasher
  • Miller Brewery- dock worker
  • Kroger- bagger
  • Golden Corral- server
  • McDonalds- dining room attendant
  • Kings Island- janitorial
  • Otterbein Nursing Home- janitorial
  • Parkside Nursing Home- janitorial
