POSITION SUMMARY
Provides day to day management of and Leadership to the Abilities First Therapies Department interdisciplinary team to develop, provide and ensure quality therapeutic services and optimum development of all internal and external clients. Serves as a member of the Abilities First Leadership Team and supervisor to the Therapies Staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides day to day and strategic leadership of all employees in the Therapies Department, collaborating with agency leadership and other programs to ensure a high quality, individualized program for students and support of families and caregivers.
- Work directly with clients as a therapy provider with a billable caseload while maintaining the margin necessary for the leadership and administrative duties of the Director of Therapies.
- Provide supervision, coaching, accountability and support to a team of excellent and professional therapists maintaining a proficiency in each supervised discipline. Leads the team in the development and achievement of goals and metrics.
- Oversight of scheduling, billing, metrics, database, and coding systems in order to maximize service, efficiency and financial return.
- Maintain careful management of the Therapies budget including income and expenses, working closely with the Finance Team and Executive Director.
- Work with the intake specialist to maintain and manage all licensure, training, continuing education, documentation and other administrative items.
- Develops, facilitates and maintains effective working relationships with all internal and external stakeholders including parents/ caregivers, school district personnel, other team members/ agency employees in order to promote open communication, trust and family engagement throughout the center and agency.
- Ensures safety and security of children and staff at all times by following Abilities First policies/procedures, Federal and State Education and Department of Health regulations.
- Provides information and assistance to families in accessing appropriate therapy reimbursement, liaises with funders and facilitates coverage.
- Develops and maintains cooperative professional relationships with current and potential community stakeholders for the purpose of expanding service footprint. This includes development of new and the growth of current services including summer programming.
- Provide key point of contact for individuals and families using, referred or considering services providing an experience that exceeds customer expectations.
- Ensures that the environment is orderly, clean, attractive and appropriate to promote an optimal therapeutic environment. Ensure that the program has all needed materials, supplies and equipment.
- Leads and/or participates in meetings, committees and agency events to promote continuous improvement and Abilities First community image.
- Performs all other duties deemed necessary by the Executive Director.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Formal Education, Licensure and Training
- Must possess a degree in therapy from an accredited school
- Must hold a current and active license as one of the following: Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, or Speech-Language Pathologist
- CPR Certified
- Computer literate and proficient in clinical documentation
- At least three (3) years of experience as a Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Speech-Language Pathologist Therapist

- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, use of email and Internet. Familiar with a data-base. Understands and speaks English fluently. Flexibility with hours worked and ability to move freely at all levels within classroom and playground settings; lift and position children weighing up to sixty (60) pounds.
- Ability to provide support and direction to employees and colleagues in stressful situations, modeling behaviors that de-escalate confrontation or stress, self-motivated, lifelong learner, highly ethical.
